Seven year-old Mollie Long, from Wymondham, was the lucky winner of a hamper full of Christmas sweets and chocolates, plus an exclusive limited edition South Norfolk Radio Mug, when hers was the request drawn out at random from all those submitted for the radio station’s annual local edition of ‘Junior Choice’, broadcast on Christmas morning.
“We thought we’d add a little incentive for people to submit requests for the programme this year by putting all of the requests we received into a hat and drawing one out to receive a small gift, with the winner announced live on Christmas morning” explained ‘Junior Choice’ show host David Mann.
It was the seventh annual Christmas Day edition of the show that David has presented on South Norfolk Radio. “South Norfolk Radio’s attendance at pre- Christmas events at Wymondham Heritage Museum and at the North Wymondham Community Centre brought in lots of requests” said David. “Interestingly, Mollie’s was amongst a surprise ‘bumper bundle’ of requests we received for the song ‘Feliz Navidad’ – obviously a popular choice when it comes to Christmas songs.”
“Mollie was happy to hear her name on the radio and to get her request played” said her Dad Simon Long, “and even happier when she heard that hers was the name picked to win the prize draw too!”
Mollie also got a peek into the South Norfolk Radio studio when Dad Simon brought her along to collect her prize on the 29th of December.
Well done Mollie – and see you for Junior Choice on South Norfolk Radio again next Christmas!
