Saturday the 11th of November is our next working party of the Autumn, 10.00am until 1.00pm.

We meet on the 2nd Saturday of each month between October and March. All are welcome, so please come along and lend a hand for a few hours to maintain your local wood. Don’t forget your flask of hot drink ready for the mid session natter at 11.30
Hopefully these fungi have survived the recent downpours!
We have a few tools, but its useful if you can bring some along and don’t forget your gloves!
The community wood was set up in 2015 by a group of village residents who’s aim was to allow public access to the wood.
With an active committee and a group of volunteers the wood is managed with an aim to encourage wildlife & fauna to thrive.
The woodland belongs to Carleton Rode Parish Council. The earliest recorded instance is on the Tithe map of 1846 were it is recorded as the ‘sand pit’ as sand and gravel was extracted from the wood for the upkeep of the local turnpike. We are granted a lease from the Parish council on a 5 yearly basis.
