Long- serving South Norfolk Radio presenter Sophie Garrod has reluctantly left the station.

“Having been involved with the station since the early Radio Wymondham days, and really enjoyed my time too, its sad to be hanging up my headphones” says Sophie. “But there are only SO many hours in a day, and as I’m inceasingly involved in activities outside the radio station, including charity events and with the Attleborough Players, something just has to give” says Sophie.
“We’ll really miss Sophie” says AJ, manager of the entirely volunteer-run Community Radio Station. “She was one of our original Radio Wymondham presenters soon after we first started broadcasting in 2018, and we’re really sad to see her leave.”
“Sophie has thrown herself into the actvities of the station wholeheartedly, not just presenting her regular shows but also co-hosting some of our live outside broadcasts and hosting on stage at events such as Wymondham Christmas and at the Food & Drink Festival” says AJ.

But AJ says that perhaps Sophie’s ‘finest hour’ was actually twenty-four hours! “Sophie really stepped up to the plate for the station when she hosted a fund-raising 24-hour radio presenting marathon in 2025, raising a considerable sum for the station’s funds, and helping to keep South Norfolk’s Community Radio station on the air.”
“We’re hugely grateful to Sophie for the enormous contribution she’s made to South Norfolk Radio and wish her all the best with her many endeavours to come” concludes AJ. “And of course, our door is always open!”
‘The Last Dance’ , the final edition of the Sophie Sessions was broadcast at 6.00pm on Monday 15th June 2026.
