There’s a line up of seasonal editions of some of our regular shows over Christmas and New Year, with our own South Norfolk Radio volunteers joined by some guest presenters during the holidays too, and, of course, SNR will be joining radio stations across the nation at 3.00pm on Christmas Day to bring you the Christmas Message from His Majesty King Charles III. We also have a serialised reading of  Charles Dickens’ classic novel ‘A Christmas Carol’ and an episode of the classic radio detective show ‘Dragnet’.

Music from December charts across the decades features in ‘JP’s Golden Years’ (Saturday 20th December 4.00pm), we join Peter Ireland for Christmas in ‘The Retro Room’ (Sunday 21st December starting at 6.00pm) and later that evening DJ Mike has a Christmas-themed ‘Dance Time in Texas’ (21st December at 9.00pm).

Amongst our special guest presenters,  Mark Stafford, returns to South Norfolk Radio to present the 28th annual edition of his ‘Rock & Roll Heaven’ programme, looking back at the music of artists that we’ve unfortunately lost through the course of the last year (6.00pm on Saturday 27th December and repeated at 8.00pm on New Years Eve). Irish presenter Déaglán O’Callaghan who, as well as broadcasting regularly at home in Ireland, also spent a number of years in front of the microphone working in Australia, brings us his eclectic and relaxing mix of seasonal favourites in ‘Christmas Cocktails’, on Boxing Day evening (26th December at 8.00pm) while David B takes a well-earned Christmas break.

There are also special seasonal editions of Peter Fairhead’s two regular programmes – ‘Classic Gold & Guilty Pleasures’ (Sunday 21st December at 6.00am with a special repeat on Christmas Day at 6.00pm) and ‘The Country Show’ (Monday 22nd December starting at 6.00pm). And Tony Lloyd will be presenting your romantic Christmas wishes in ‘Love from Tony’ at 1.00pm lunchtime on Sunday 21st December.

In a special seasonal treat, Phil Deadman reads the classic Charles Dickens story of ghosts and redemption in ‘A Christmas Carol’,  a nine part-series being broadcast nightly at 10.30pm from 16th to 24th December. And Jack Webb stars in a vintage seasonal edition of the classic detective drama ‘Dragnet’ on Christmas Day at 10.30pm.

On the ‘home front’, David Mann will present the ‘Sounds Easy Christmas Collection’ on Sunday 21st December at 11.00pm, with a repeat at 5.00pm on 23rd December, and on Christmas Day itself, David invites you to South Norfolk Radio’s eighth annual local edition of perennial radio favourite ‘Junior Choice’ (Christmas Day 8.00am). The Junior Choice request deadline is at 6.00pm on Saturday 20th December – so tune in to see if your name gets mentioned and your request gets played!

South Norfolk Radio will join broadcasters across the nation to relay the ‘King’s Christmas Message‘ at 3.00pm on Christmas Day. and of course some seasonal favourites will appear in the South Norfolk Radio Music Mix too. You can find all the details on the schedule tab on this website.

We hope that the wide range of music that we play on South Norfolk Radio will bring you some ‘comfort and joy’ through this holiday season and all the volunteers at South Norfolk Radio join in wishing you a Very Merry Christmas!
