South Norfolk Radio South Norfolk Radio
JP is based in the Netherlands and is the long-time presenter of Eurovision Radio International, also broadcast on South Norfolk Radio. JP’s Golden Years was created especially for South Norfolk Radio in 2020.
German-born JP’s dream of having his own English language radio show in the Netherlands, where he now lives and works, came true in November 1998. As a youngster, JP (real name Jürgen-Peter Börnig) spent much time tuned to the British Forces Broadcasting Service radio in Köln, rather than to his local German stations, and that’s where his enthusiasm for English-language radio began. He had experience as a DJ and radio show presenter in his spare time while he was employed with the American Forces Network (AFN SHAPE) in Belgium. He adopted his initials JP as his disc jockey title at that time. JP plays squash, badminton, loves beach volleyball, and swims regularly to keep fit. He is also of course an avid Eurovision Song Contest fan and has attended all the Contests in person in recent years as a member of the Accredited Media, as well as innumerable televised national final shows and Eurovision fan events and concerts across Europe. He’s even participated as an International Eurovision Jury Member for some European broadcasters. As an easy-going person with a great sense of humour, he is good fun and enjoys life to the full.
