Volunteeer’s Week 2024 – Wymondham & Attleborough Talking Newspaper 1300th Edition

Background

It’s Volunteers’ Week across the nation, celebrating the amazing contributions that volunteers make to communities across the UK.
Our colleagues at The Wymondham & Attleborough Talking Newspaper, a group of volunteers who produce a regular news and information service for blind and partially sighted people in our area, are celebrating the 1300th edition of their production.

In common with around 500 similar groups across the country, Wymondham & Attleborough Talking Newspaper provides a free service to those for whom reading a newspaper is difficult because of a disabilty or health condition. The programmes were originally sent out on cassette tapes, but USBs are now the norm, and all the programmes are available on-line too – just go to the Talking Newspaper’s website at watn.org.uk.
Both Wymondham & Attleborough Talking Newspaper and South Norfolk Radio are entirely run by volunteers and the 1300th edition of The Wymondham & Attleborough Talking Newspaper was presented as part of Volunteers’ Week 2024, itself celebrating it’s 40th Anniversary. You’ll find details at volunteersweek.org.

You can hear the special edition of the Talking Newsaper just after the news at 9.00am on Tuesday June 4th, and again at 6.00pm in the evening.
