Dereham Blues Fesval 2024 – A Community Blues Explosion

Now in its tenth year, the Dereham Blues Festival which is hosted by the town, its people and venues,returns for 2024. Every year thousands of visitors come to Dereham for five days of solid, top notch blues and soul music, supported and welcomed by the wider community. The festival dates for everyone’s diaries this year are Wednesday 10th July to Sunday 14th July.

The opening concert on Wednesday evening 10th July at the Dereham Memorial Hall will feature the amazing and fabulous Toby Lee.

Toby Lee is a truly exceptional young man and a blues phenomenon. At only 19, he’s been playing the blues in the top flight in the UK since when he was just an eight year old kid and winning top blues awards at the highest level. In 2018 and again in 2023 he won “Young Blues Artist of the Year” at the UK Blues Awards in London. In 2016 he was cast as Zack Mooneyham for one year in the West End production of ‘School of Rock: the Musical’ by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Toby has played with several of the greatest blues artists around, for example performing with Buddy Guy, Walter Trout and on Joe Bonamassa’s “Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea” Mediterranean cruise and jamming with the man himself.

With such class and so many young blues artists making waves across the world, no wonder that the blues genre is very much alive and in good health.

Equally thrilling is the other act at the opening concert. Catfish are one of the UK’s most exciting blues-rock powerhouses on the circuit today. They have quickly established themselves on the scene as one to watch, and the band has been making waves in the last few years, with regular tours and festival appearances in the UK, Europe and the USA. They have established themselves as a real force in the British blues scene and are multi-blues award nominees and winners in each of the past recent years.
