Councilor Hugh King, Mayor of Dereham joined the Dereham Blues Festival team on Friday 16th June at Tesco’s in Dereham to announce the winner of two premier seats for this year’s Blues Frstival  Opening Concert on July 5th at Dereham Memorial Hall.

The concert features multi-Grammy award winner Danielle Nicole, highly regarded as one of the best bassists in the USA right now and for her emotional and high energy vocals. Her band is supported by up-and-coming local phenomenon Ross James Stewart who has been creating quite a stir in the local live music scene. He will be backed by Norfolk Blues Society’sown house band The Shunters.Popular local ensemble Rockavox will also be entertaining the audience in the Garden room of the Hall before the concerts starts.

Tickets have sold incredibly quickly this year with just a small handful left and still a couple of weeks to go. They are available from Ticketsource at

Councilor King said “The Dereham Blues Festival is a great thing for the town as it brings in lots of people who would otherwise not visit’ and the Festival is entirely run by Dereham volunteers.”
The Dereham Blues Festival team, who are all local volunteers, are really excited about the continual development of the festival and the positive effects it has on the hospitality sector in the town.

Building on last year’s Blues Busk in Ellenor Fenn Gardens, Norfolk Blues Society is sponsoring the event again on Saturday 8 July from 12pm right through to 5pm. This year the ten-act line-up includes Mississippi Macdonald and Dove and Boweevil.Full details can be found on the festival website at https://www.derehambluesfestival.org.uk/

The open-air event is aimed at those who are just passing by or who want to spend the afternoon immersed in live music and if the team are lucky again, some sunny weather, everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring a sun chair and refreshments.

Other exciting Festival news for those who like to party long are the late Saturday night acts taking place at four of this year’s licensed venues with live blues music running right through to 12pm or even 2am. Full details are on the Festival website where those with digital knowhow can also download a constantly updated PDF version of the printed program onto their mobiles by just clicking the blue text on the Dereham Blues Festival home page https://www.derehambluesfestival.org.uk/

Chairman of The Dereham Blues Festival team wished the people and businesses of Dereham a fantastic experience during this year’s event. Saying “without the active patience, support and enthusiasm of the Dereham community the event just would not be what it has become today. After ten festivals over the last twelve years we are now recognised nationally not just on the blues festival circuit, but listed among some of more generally well known festivals too. That recognition brings more people to Dereham who really enjoy the town and what it has to offer. We hope the people of Dereham can be proud of what they have helped to achieve.”

The Festival runs from 5th – 9th July across indoor and outdoor venues in Dereham.
