Welcome to South Norfolk Radio! A new name and a new era dawned on Monday 30th August 2021 as we expanded our horizons and re-branded to South Norfolk Radio.
Now based in studios right in the town centre in Wymondham, a traditional rural Norfolk market town in the East of the United Kingdom, we are expanding our interests to cover all of the South Norfolk district, and we welcome enquiries from both potential volunteers and from potential advertisers too, with local companies keen to take advantange of our very competitive pricing options to get their own local services advertised to local people, to the mutual benefit of the local community as a whole.
The not for profit South Norfolk Radio Community Interest Company (CIC) was finally established, as Radio Wymondham, in 2018, after some years of abortive attempts by others, to provide a local radio service serving the needs of all members of the local community. The station moved to its new studio premises in early 2021, and has now embarked on another new stage of its journey with the re-branding to South Norfolk Radio.
Currently broadcasting on-line and on a range of radio streaming services, and available on computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones and smart speakers, and on devices such as Alexa, South Norfolk Radio hopes to eventually expand to be able to broadcast on the local DAB transmitter network too and already has an option on this.
“Monday August 30th 2021 is just the latest stage in our journey to provide South Norfolk with the best local radio service that we can, providing opportunities for volunteering, for education and for the local economy too” says CIC Chair Anthony Woods. “The sky is the limit – come and join us on the journey!”
