Jake Longwell presents two different shows on alternate Mondays in the late nght slot at 11.00pm. The Jazz Scene The Jazz Scene is the perfect program for the "straight ahead" jazz enthusiast. Each episode features the best in traditional and mainstream Jazz from the past and present. You'll hear a wide range of styles including swing, bebop, cool jazz, and Latin jazz to name a few. Artists include Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, The Modern Jazz Quartet, Bill Evans, Joshua Redman, Russell Malone, Diana Krall Wallace Roney, and many, many more. Jazz Progressions Yes. This music really IS Jazz! This show is for those who like the more adventurous aspects of Jazz. Emphasis is placed on Free Jazz and Jazz/Rock Fusion, though other modern Jazz styles may also be heard from time to time. Artists range from John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Dave Douglas and Evan Parker to The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return to Forever, Allan Holdsworth and Niacin.
